Liebster Blog Award Nomination

Liebster New Blog Award Nomination

Discover New Blogs!

The Liebster Award is an online award given to bloggers by other bloggers that helps spread the blogging love. I was surprised and warmed to find one morning that I had been nominated for the award by the lovely Lucy Connolly at

I am a lifestyle and social justice blogger here to provide you with advice and guidance on a range of topics covering everything from homemade crafts and Prosecco to Diabetes, Dementia, Depression, Communication Needs, Hypermobility Syndrome, Parenting and Homeschooling. I have a degree in Education and 10 years experience as a teaching assistant specialising in speech and language therapy, so can advocate for parenting and life topics.

I thought there is so much I can ramble on about, that I wanted to share so Parenting, Pastimes and Prosecco was born, pretty much overnight. I have received so much support and advice from the blogging world and have really enjoyed connecting with like minded bloggers on Twitter, Instagram, Bloglovin and Pinterest so I was truly grateful to be nominated, especially so early on my journey.

Anyway I digress (I am good at that), here are the rules for the award.
  1. Post 11 facts about yourself
  2. Answer the 11 questions asked by the person who nominated you
  3. Nominate 11 other bloggers
  4. Ask the bloggers 11 questions
  5. Let the bloggers know that you have nominated them
First off - 11 facts about me:

  1. I am a sagittarius, but that is the closest you will ever get to knowing my birthday. I am one of those weird people that don’t like celebrating the fact that I have survived another 365 days on this rock.

  1. I can play Saxophone and Clarinet. Although I haven’t played for many years, so probably can’t remember how.

  1. I hate flying. Well my ears do at least. I am a such a lightweight I can get travel sick even driving a car. Yes I actually can. Boats are the worst for sickness and although flying is fine while in the air, as soon as decent starts, so does my desire to curl up in a ball and cry like a baby.

  1. I have hypermobility syndrome. A hereditary condition that causes the joints to be capable of excessive motion resulting in injury and dislocations. For me it is my knees that are the weakest joint. I regularly ‘pop’ my knees as I like to call it. Very painful.

  1. I am obsessed with dogs (most people know that) but my autistic son and I dream of having a Doggy Daycare one day when we win the lottery.

  1. I have a true phobia of spiders that used to be so bad I could not even look at pictures. I have had some therapy for it and can now look at still pictures, but still can’t handle video or the real thing. I did hold a tarantula as part of my therapy. I cried the whole time and have blocked it from memory.

  1. I love snakes though. Go figure.

  1. I can speak Welsh. I wouldn’t say I am fluent but enough to get by in a conversation with somebody understanding and patient. That or I talk to my dogs, as they don’t correct my mistakes.

  1. My dream job would be a tornado chaser.

  1. I lived in Egypt for the first 2 years of my life. I learnt to speak Arabic before English, but I have no memories, only photographs.

  1. I never liked the colour pink until I became mum to two boys.

Here are the questions I was asked by Lucy and my answers:
1. How do you relax?
Pjs, TV box sets and my dogs cwtched up under a blanket on the sofa. Current box sets are Elementary and The Last Kingdom.

2. Where is your favourite place and why?
My bed, if the electric blanket has been on for a while. In the world it would have to be Rottenest Island, Perth, WA.

3. What has been one of your most memorable experiences to date?
This will sound sappy but becoming a mum. It was a harrowing labour, but I can be thankful we both survived and it really is the only job I truly want to do in life.

4. When are you most happy and why?
When I am with family. Some people have religion which is like a large close nit family. My family is my religion. They are my strength, my faith, my love.

5. What is your biggest regret?
Not working harder at school when I had the chance and education was free. I love learning and it is definitely a lifelong passion.

6. What do you love most about yourself?
I found this the hardest to answer and left it till last. I would have to say my heart and desire to want to help everyone. My compassion for making the world a better place.

7. What are you most passionate about?
Advocating for mental health and other social justice topics.

8. Who do you admire?
My youngest son. Who has learned to manage his Autism and is currently fighting a rare lymphoma. Although there are very dark days. He still has an incredible sense of humor and vitality.

9. What are you obsessed with right now?

10. Why did you start blogging?
I originally started blogging with my autistic son to tell our story about living with autism. Ryan wanted to write a book, and we thought blogging would be a good way to start.

11. What era do you wish you were born in? 70’s? 80’s? And why?
I was born in the 70s and grew up listening to awesome 80s music, but I would love to have been born just after the war so that I grew up and lived in the 50s as the world was booming after the war, morale was high and fashion was just amazing.

Until the next time...Pay it forward...Share the love...Blog on.
